I have stood where you are, mama

At my six week postpartum visit my amazing OB said “you look great” but I walked out of that appointment thinking I was as far from great as possible. I felt confused that this was where traditional medical care left me. Sure, I was lucky to not have had major complications and a beautiful baby in my arms.  But I could barely sit up in bed or walk up steps without feeling like I was going to fall over.

I was overwhelmed with where to start, what to do, and how to navigate the system to get myself back to well, me. And when I finally started physical therapy I was again told “I was great.” But I still couldn’t lift one leg off the ground without falling to the side.

This is considered “great” in our healthcare system? That’s when I knew something had to change.

I thought to myself, what if we helped women throughout pregnancy and postpartum build their best self and create lifelong healthy lifestyle habits?

As I progressed through my own recovery applying my knowledge as a Board Certified Sports Medicine Physician and decade of experience caring for athletes, I knew every mom deserved to be educated and empowered during arguably the most physically, emotionally and spiritually demanding experience of their lives.

So, I decided to do it.

About the Doctor

Lara Morgan Lee, MD is a board-certified Sports Medicine Physician.  She has served as team doctor for the Cleveland Cavaliers, Los Angeles Kings, and USC Trojans and as staff physician at the Cleveland Clinic and Keck Medicine of USC.  In addition, Dr. Lee has served several professional and collegiate organizations, numerous elite athletes, and countless adults pursuing a healthy lifestyle.

She has been called her middle name since birth… hence “Dr. Morgan.”

After the birth of her daughter, Dr. Morgan quickly realized there was a gap in medical care for the peripartum mom. She recognized that her passion for health and wellbeing along with her medical training could make an impact on this population. She was so inspired by this vision that she decided to dedicate her career to the women on these journeys.  The vision is clear: elevate the traditional way medicine is delivered by empowering women everywhere.  She is committed to growing this community by diving deep into social media while continuing to build and cultivate her business and aesthetic physician brand.

Things you may not know about her:

She has completed several marathons and triathlons, and she loves yoga.   She spends her free time being active with her husband and toddler, and she enjoys ending the night cuddling her French Bulldog and sipping on the ginniest gin martini one can whip up. Her superpower is her empathy and ability to read a room. She is proudest that she can walk the walk in most any scenario from pro locker room to girls night and everywhere in between.  When life gets a little too much for her passionate, soulful, feeling self, nothing calms her faster than the sound of the ocean.
